Dhamma Study in Mandarin

Dhamma study and discussions in Mandarin, and sharing of Dhamma practice or life experiences, guided by Venerables Yuan-Ray (圓睿法師), Yuan-Ming (圓明法師), and Yuan-Zhi (圓智法師) of Dharma Treasury Study Center, Berkeley, CA.
9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, class to watch DVD lectures in Mandarin by Venerable Chuan-Tao (傳道法師) on “佛法概論道次第”for about 50 minutes. Followed by discussions, sharing, Q & A’s under the guidance of the Venerables. This is a series of talks which presents a very thorough and insightful exposition on Master Yin-Shun’s book “佛法概論”. Listening to these talks will be very helpful in your understanding of the Buddha’s original teachings.
10:45 AM to 12:00 PM, Dhamma Talks by Venerable Yuan-Ray (圓睿法師) on The Way to Buddhahood(成佛之道), based on Master Yin-Shun’s book.

food offering and potluck lunch - Noon to 1:30 PM
This follows the above Dhamma Study class. It will be a good opportunity for
you to get answers to your questions about any issue in your study and practice
of Buddhism. You are welcome to participate in the food offering and have lunch
with the Venerables and yogis even if you can’t come to the morning class. If

9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Dhamma study and discussions, plus sharing of Dhamma practice or life experiences, led by Teacher Upasika Sarah Marks. Class to study theory and techniques on Vipassana meditation. The current textbook is In This Very Life by Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita. This book will be available from MLA for regular attendees. There are also library copies available for temporary use in the class. This book is said to be "the clearest, most concise and complete meditation manual… It includes basic meditation instruction, ways of recognizing and avoiding pitfalls, remedies for problems…".

Sunday Beginners'

This class will be on two consecutive Sundays 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM, beginning on the second Sunday of every month. It is for beginners to learn about basic Vipassana meditation techniques so they can begin practicing at home, in a group, or on retreats. RSVP required. Please click here to sign up for the class.

Information for Yogis on the
Meditation Events:
What to bring
1. Floor pads (Zabutons) are provided to cushion your legs against the hardwood
floor. However, you're welcome to bring your own favorite pad.
2. A few blankets and cushions (zafus) are provided at MLA. Please
bring your own if you have them. Chairs are available if you need one.
Parking
Please park on the streets, not on the driveway, which is reserved for teachers
and on-duty staff. There are many spaces on the nearby side streets.
Entrance
The address is 419 California Street, Campbell, CA 95008. Its cross street is
Budd Ave. There is no sign on the building. When you come to the site, please
do not use the front door. Instead, please walk through the driveway gate to
the back for entrance to the Meditation Hall.
Yogi Guidelines
1. Please turn off all cell phones, beepers, and any other alarms.
2. No food, water, drinks or any liquid is allowed in the Meditation Hall.
3. Please observe the announced schedule.
4. Please avoid making noise or going in and out of the Meditation Hall during sitting sessions. Please be gentle with the doors.
5. No smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises.
6. Please observe Noble Silence and try to be mindful at all times. Noble Silence means silence of the body, speech, and mind. Any form of communication with fellow students, whether by gestures, sign language, written notes, speaking, etc., won't be beneficial to your meditation thus should be avoided. No greetings or socializing during the retreat. No talking except in a very urgent situation. In that case, please do it outside the Meditation Hall and away from walking yogis and keep your conversation very low and brief. This applies to lunch and break time as well.
